Torch Lake, Michigan: Day 1, August 4th

Marian began her 60-hour, 100+ mile swim this morning at 7:14 am alongside a beautiful sunrise at the South end of Torch Lake.

Marian completed her first leg of 17.8 miles from the south end to the north end of Torch Lake in about 8 1/2 hours. We were planning on her completing this segment by 5:00 pm, but, like the overachiever she is, Marian finished the first segment at 3:42 pm, way ahead of schedule!

Marian is currently about 15 hours into her 60-hour swim. She's continuing to swim strong and at a steady pace. Conditions have been incredible for the first segment with 70-degree water temperatures and clear skies. Let's all hope and pray for the best conditions as Marian continues swimming overnight tonight.

We are expecting that Marian will complete her second leg sometime around midnight tonight.

Marian is doing an absolutely incredible job and people are beginning to notice! She has received plenty of news coverage already. Mix 95.7 covers Marian's swim here. Check out this article by local 9 and 10 News all about Marian's swim where they interview her husband, Greg Aldin, and John Dine with the Chicago Diabetes Project, all about her swim.
